DESCRIPTION:Magdalen College owns a rare first edition of the printed music of John Dowland (1563?-1626). The Old Library will be open to allow visitors to view this beautiful early sixteenth century book.\nLute-song ensemble Dowland’s Foundry are joined by viol player Sam Stadlen to give an intimate & informal table performance of selected Dowland’s songs from original print of John Dowland (1563-1626) Books of Songes and Ayres (c.1600). Expect to hear lesser-known gems, as well as his greatest hits, all in the technicolour in which it was imaged: ‘all of the parts, or either of them severally, to be sung to the lute’.\nDowland’s Foundry\nSam Brown, Lute\nGwen Martin, Soprano\nClemmie Franks, Alto Daniel Thomson, Tenor\nSam Stadlen, Bass Viol\nEntrance is free\nBooking essential.\n
