Organ does Orchestra – A celebration of music with Cathy Lamb
What makes the organ such a special instrument? There is no-one better to answer that than Cathy Lamb, a star organist and former Director of Music of Lichfield Cathedral. You don’t have to know your Diapasons from your Dulcianas for this event – Cathy will explain how the organ works and show what’s so special about the new Eule organ in Magdalen College Chapel with an interactive talk. She’ll then show off the organ in all its glory with a programme of orchestral classics you’ll know and love, making one instrument sound like the whole orchestra. There will be an opportunity for any children and young people (possibly some older ones too!) to have a go themselves – no experience necessary.
This is a family-friendly event aimed at celebrating the new organ and bringing it to a new audience, so come along if you have ever wondered what makes the organ thunder, have lots of questions, or would like to have a go.
Come early to hear the future stars of the organ world!
