Say it in 60 seconds

We are delighted to announce the launch of our music project Say it in 60 seconds.

We invite you to send us a score of no more than 60″ and if chosen by our expert panel, it will be performed by our musicians and made into a professional mini video.

To launch this project we’re asking for your 60″ compositions for solo trumpet. The chosen pieces will be played by renowned trumpeter Brendan Ball.

Brendan began studying trumpet after winning a scholarship to Chetham’s School of Music and whilst there was a finalist in the BBC Young Musician of the Year. He went on to become a Foundation Scholar at the Royal College of Music. Brendan has played with many leading orchestras, opera, and dance companies in the UK and Europe.

He has performed all the major concertos and is an internationally regarded recitalist. His output in the recording industry is equally prodigious.  Brendan joined the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra in 2017.

Our filmmaker is Roberto Umaña, an experienced producer who has worked extensively on live and digital performances.

This project will continue in 2021 with calls for different instrumentation and will include dedicated calls for university/conservatoire students as well as college and school children.

Our first call – compositions for solo trumpet, is open now and there are no restrictions, anyone can take part. Send us your score (using notation software or scan your manuscript) to info@artsfestivaloxford.org

You have until Jan 4 2021 and we are excited to see how you will ‘Say it in 60 seconds’!

To celebrate the launch we are delighted that composer Paul Max Edlin has written a piece exclusively for #OFAvirtual entitled Gone in 60 Seconds which is performed by Brendan.
