Tried and tested, activity bags are a hit!

As part of our work with the MCS Partnerships Team, we have put together 100 free activity bags for children to enjoy during the summer holidays. Designed with arts and creativity in mind, the bags will encourage children away from screens, out into the open air, and will stimulate hungry minds and imagination!
The bags contain a whole range of goodies: a book courtesy of our friends at Blackwells in Oxford, poetry bookmarks to colour in, a set of felt tips, stained glass colouring templates, a mosaic kit, craft projects to make paper birds, a dreamcatcher and paper flowers and some brain teaser puzzles. Designed for 7-11 year olds the bags are made from paper, decorated with raffia bows and luggage tags and the contents have been chosen to be as sustainable as possible. We have distributed them via the Rosehill Community Larder and the Blackbird Leys Larder.
Festival Director Dr Michelle Castelletti said “There is nothing more heartwarming than seeing children’s enthusiasm and excitement as they open their bags of surprises and find things to create themselves. The festival continues to encourage and facilitate creativity in children. It is incumbent upon all arts organisations to do so. The arts make us a thousandfold richer.”
Nigel Roberts, Organiser at Blackbird Leys Larder commented “Thank you for the craft bags, they were fantastic and extremely well received by the members of our larder and it was lovely to see the young ones carrying out their bags.”
Bags will be distributed at Rosehill Community Larder again today July 27th and will then go to the Oxford City Council Youth Ambition Team.
