The Laudian Vestments
in collaboration with St John’s College, Oxford
St John’s College, Oxford, has a unique collection of medieval and early modern textiles, both liturgical and secular. The bulk of the collection bears witness to the beauty and skill of workers, both English and Netherlandish. We see the extraordinary artistic virtuosity of the makers, with vivid scenes from the gospels rendered with minute detail, emotive expressions, and carefully deployed perspectival lines. This is a wonderful opportunity to see these exceptional vestments. There will be someone present to answer any questions you might have.
Free entrance to the exhibition room is through the Garden Quad Reception Room.
