Oxford Festival of the Arts is thrilled to be announcing that award-winning saxophonist, rapper, and BBC Jazz Presenter, Soweto Kinch (who also read History at Oxford!) will be performing his new album: SOUNDTRACK TO THE APOCALYPSE for our final Friday Night in Festival Hall on July 11 with this trio.

Soweto Kinch melds jazz and beat-based hip-hop in this album that completes a trilogy with Black Peril and White JuJu. All three works are political, with Kinch as storyteller, narrating chronicles of historic and ongoing themes.

In Soundtrack to the Apocalypse, Kinch is on multiple horns and electronics, fusing together jazz, hip hop, and other linked traditions from the African diaspora into a political statement. The message: Music must necessarily be universal.

Soweto Kinch is one of the most exciting and versatile musicians in both the British jazz and hip-hop scenes. He has amassed an impressive list of accolades including two MOBOs and a Mercury Award.

We look forward to seeing you for our final Friday Night at the Festival!
