Evensong with sermon by John Donne and new anthem by Nico Muhly

In this special evensong, the Choir of New College Oxford will give the first performance of a new anthem by Nico Muhly, set to a text by Donne, co-commissioned by Oxford Festival of the Arts. The sermon by Revd Dr Erica Longfellow will be an abridged version of John Donne’s sermon preached at the marriage of Lady Mary Egerton to Richard Herbert in November 1627.
* There will be a pre-service talk at 4.30pm to mark the launch of the new book edited by Erica Longfellow and Peter McCullough: Volume VII of The Oxford Edition of the Sermons of John Donne. Rev Dr Erica Longfellow will introduce the sermon and John Donne’s legacy as a preacher. Nico Muhly will introduce the new anthem commissioned for the book launch.
